What is Software as a Service (SaaS)?

I have always put the emphasis on service as opposed to the software, but what this means for the customer is that instead of installing yet another piece of software with arcane requirements, you access the software via your web browser and all the pain of infrastructure, updates, version mismatches is managed by your partner, in this case Procode. When you connect to a Procode SaaS, you can be confident it is secure, available and packed with the latest and greatest features.

What is ‘the cloud’?

Simply, this is “other people’s computers”, but what it means for us, is that we can use a scalable, distributed and near limitless resource to deliver the computing performance you need. We can increase power as we need it to meet your changing demands, and it provides the resilience that critical energy infrastructure doesn’t just want, but requires.

In your opinion how could tech companies secure and accelerate SaaS applications?

I think one of the key factors in SaaS is that Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) has become ubiquitous for modern software houses. We’re all looking at infrastructure as code, being able to scale automatically and adapt to load to maintain performance. Forming close links with the providers like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, being up to date with modern deployment methods like Kubernetes and Terraform and leading in best practice gives you the flexibility to confidence to develop software the right way.

In your opinion how does SaaS compare with other cloud service models?

IaaS, PaaS and SaaS all have their place within the software world, at Procode we use all three ourselves. SaaS is really about the whole package being provided to you as the end user. We serve you the software and everything in the background is handled by us.

How are Procode’s SaaS products different from its competitors?

We’re agile (not waterfall dressed up as agile!). We pride ourselves on the service element of SaaS and, after two decades of experience in the energy industry, delivering critical infrastructure when it mattered, we’ve got the track record of software too. You’re in safe hands.
