Ecofit Q&A with Tim Maxwell and Harry Smith
What inspired you to start Ecofit Homes?
In the UK, at least 15% of carbon emissions come from powering our homes – we are on a mission to solve this problem using technology and data.
How did technology influence the success of Ecofit?
At its heart, Ecofit was always a technology first company. Particularly since working exclusively in the data space, we’ve made extensive use of cloud technology and big data tools.
In your opinion how has the Tech and Data industry changed since you started developing Ecofit?
It’s difficult to look past generative AI here. There are so many great product ideas that can make use of the leaps forward being made in the AI space, and with personal AI assistants it’s never been more accessible to get started!
In your opinion what trends should new entrepreneurs in the Tech and Data industry be aware of?
Focus on the product! It’s very easy to get swept away with all the other important work you have to do as a start up, but it’s always worth remembering that creating a great product is the most critical thing.
How did you feel when Ecofit was acquired by Procode?
Delighted! We were excited that Procode’s ambitions matched ours in this space, and we had a great opportunity to quickly role out our tech to help thousands of customers.
What plans are in store for Ecofit now that it has combined with Procode?
We believe that Ecofit data can really help customers save money on their energy bills and we want to get this into the hands of as many people as possible. After this, we have some really exciting ideas on how to link Ecofit data with all the other data sources Procode has.
